Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to common questions about starting therapy with us
Do you work with children or teenagers?
No. We focus exclusively on adult mental health (18+) and relationship dynamics. We do not provide services for children, families or adolescents, allowing us to specialize deeply in the unique challenges facing adults today. We are happy to provide referrals for trusted child and family specialists if needed.
Do you offer remote therapy sessions?
Yes. We serve clients living anywhere within California. We utilize our secure telehealth platform. You can also do a mix of in-person and remote sessions depending on what works best for your schedule.
How do I know which therapist is right for me?
We offer a free 15-minute phone or video consultation. During this call, we will discuss your specific needs, preferences, and goals and share our approach and style. We will then match you with the therapist whose expertise and personality best align with what you are looking for.
What are your fees and do you take insurance?
Our fees vary by therapist and service type (individual vs. couples). We are not in network with any insurance providers. We are happy, however, to provide you with a "superbill" on a monthly basis that you can submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. You can also use funds from an FSA (flexible spending account) or an HSA (health savings account) to pay for therapy which is a qualified medical expense. Additionally, we have a limited number of sliding scale spots for those experiencing financial hardship.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
How long does therapy usually last?
The duration of therapy depends on your individual goals. Some clients come for brief, solution-focused work (8-12 sessions) to address a specific issue. Others prefer long-term therapy for deeper personal growth and self-discovery. We will regularly check in on your progress to ensure therapy is meeting your needs.
